Project management

The Challenge

The challenge was to re-locate a customer’s existing fabrication facility to larger premises, increasing the footprint by 50%, incorporating an office and meeting room. The project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, to a strict budget, whilst ensuring that there was minimum impact to day-to-day business.

The Solution

By utilising a Project Delivery System based on PRINCE2 methodology and a gateway audit process, I ensured that each stage of the project was met. I also kept the customer and other stakeholders updated by holding weekly project reviews, which kept delays to a minimum when obtaining sign off at each gateway.

The Results

Successful demobilisation of the old facility and integration into the new one, completed without impact on the day-to-day business. An office structure was built within the facility footprint with space for 4 people as well as a meeting room seating 6. Everything was delivered on time and on budget.

Working closely with Gianna for over four years in the supply chain industry, she always delivered a great service. One of the stand out projects she delivered for Volker Rail  was the above.  I was always amazed by the dedication to her role and would personally recommend Gianna to any business.

Lean Solutions

The Challenge

The challenge with this project was to increase productivity in a small stores' environment, ensuring that all critical day-to-day tasks are completed on time, enabling customer demand to be met.

The Solution

Using a number of techniques, including the end-to-end process mapping and implementing IT solutions. I initiated a review of the layout of the storage area and created a structured approach to each task by implementing a TCard system. Control boards were also created to manage the processes and to easily identify problem areas.

The Results

The project resulted in a process time saving of between two and a half and three hours per day. This enabled the “spare” hours to be proactively used, ensuring there were no unnecessary delays to materials and enabling early communication to the customer where delays were unavoidable, giving them options to re-schedule.

Having worked with Gianna for over 20 years, I would highly recommend her.  She is reliable and committed to achieve the end result and delivered a fantastic result with the above project. Open minded and focused on developing lean processes, along with great project management skills. She is a proficient communicator at all levels with an open and honest attitude.
